Our Story
Formed in 1997, our club has grown into one of the largest community sporting organisations in the state.
Like all community clubs, we’re here today as a direct result of the blood, sweat & tears our members gave, and continue to give to this day.
On a summer's afternoon in the leafy inner-city of Newcastle, cooled by an ale or two at the Commy, Cooks Hill United Football Club officially became a sporting organisation.
Amidst the buzz of the '98 World Cup, three All Age teams were registered in the local Newcastle competition and became the first representatives of the black & white stripes.
The '99 season was the inaugural year for both the Cooks Hill Juniors and the Cooks Hill Womens.
Our All Age E Womens team receive their first silverware, winning the Grand Final after finishing the league at the top of the table.
Elsewhere our Mens side step up into the ID2’s.
Promoted to the top InterDistrict competition, the subsequent years produced many trophy-laden seasons, extensive upgrades to the Athletics Track (Fearnley Dawes) facilities and the full amalgamation of Cooks Hill Juniors with the Senior squads.
Cooks Hill took the leap into the Northern League One competition. While it was unsuccessful in terms of silverware, foundations were laid that led to First Grade winning the Minor Premiership 3 x years in a row.
The dream has always been to play in Newcastles top-division. With an experienced committee, successful playing group, further ground & facility upgrades and a stable club structure, Cooks Hill are promoted into the Northern NSW National Premier League.
"After hearing the clubs vision and ambition, the challenge of helping achieve these goals excites me."
In Chris Zoricich's first season in charge we finished with an improved points tally of 32pts (14pts more than 2022), goals scored (5 more than 2022) and goals against (conceded 9 fewer goals).
Team Song
To the tune of 'Along the Road to Gundagai'
There’s a team and they’re striped,
in the colours black and white,
and they’re from Cooks Hill Football Club
The midfield’s always firing,
defence is never tiring,
the keeper’s like a wall….
And when our mighty strikers
score another goal
All around the ground you’ll hear:
“FIRE IN THE HOLE!”
So we sing high and low
as we let the others know
that we’re from Cooks Hill Football Club
